Building a Flourishing Education System That Serves All
With a diverse student population and the state’s need for an increasingly more educated citizenry to maintain its economic standing, we must ensure California’s education system, from K-12 to postsecondary education, serves students equitably and is accessible to all. Some of California’s most important educational leaders will discuss challenges and opportunities in reimagining California’s educational system to better serve the needs of students, particularly Black and Latinx students, multilingual learners, and students experiencing poverty. What is California’s vision for a more equitable educational system, and what promising strategies, initiatives, and solutions are being piloted and scaled? What remains to be done to build a flourishing education system that advances educational justice for communities of color and other historically marginalized and minoritized populations?

Centering Mental Health to Build Healthy Community Ecosystems
We know the foundation of life-long mental health begins in childhood and is interconnected with overall well-being. As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, it was no surprise that it soon became a stressful time for youth and their families, especially youth of color who disproportionately experience negative mental health and well-being outcomes. Join us for a conversation on culturally responsive care across generations and gain insights on building healthier communities, self-care, and practical resources and tools.

Join the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center for a timely conversation on why focused attention on Latinas is critical for our shared future and how Latinas can grow their leadership across key industries. Attendees will be challenged to reflect on how they show up in their personal, organizational and community roles and identify ways they can amplify their leadership in those spaces.
